Mindy joined the SJMC faculty in 1996 as a visiting professor and was head of the advertising sequence from 2005 through 2007. Prior to coming to CU, Mindy spent 14 years working in advertising in New York City where she was a Senior Partner and Associate Media Director at Ogilvy & Mather. During her tenure as Sequence Head, she created and successfully launched advertising a2b, the Innovators Series and the a2b international and professional programs. Mindy has been Outstanding Faculty member three years out of the last six, won the Pyle Award for outstanding non-tenured faculty in 2009 and the Payden Award for Faculty Excellence in 2010.

Kendra will teach the account planning section.

Kendra has over 15 years of experience in consumer research and account planning. She pioneered early consumer ethnographic research methods to understand socio-cultural aspects of consumption. Prior to joining the CU advertising faculty, Kendra worked with numerous Minneapolis advertising agencies including Fallon and Carmichael Lynch. Some past clients include Target, American Express, AARP, MasterCard, and Pillsbury. Kendra won the Pyle Award for outstanding non-tenured faculty in 2010.

David Sladyen

David will teach the creative section.

David brings a combination of professional experience and academic credentials to the University of Colorado. He has written for both film and advertising and his creative work has been honored by top awards shows and publications. In 2000, he created the blurr lab, a cutting edge, interactive design initiative funded by the Omnicom Group. In 2009, David conceived, developed and launched the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s newest program, Boulder Digital Works. BDW works with post-grads and professionals in the digital space and has been funded, in part, by MDC.

Brett will teach the campaigns section.

Brett joined the SJMC faculty in 1992. He has more than 20 years of professional advertising experience and came to CU from Washington, D.C. where he was vice president and co-creative director of DDB Advertising. His work has won numerous awards including being featured in the Communication Arts, One Show and Art Directors Club of New York awards annuals. Brett's recently published book, Idea Industry: How to Crack the Advertising Career Code (One Club 2008), is based on interviews with over 100 professionals and describes what it takes to break into the advertising industry. Brett has been named Outstanding Faculty Member several times and won the Tenured Faculty Teaching Award in 2008.

Jeff Graham

Jeff will teach the account management section.

Jeff joined Jeff joined Crispin Porter + Bogusky in 2006, moving to Boulder with the initial group of 40 employees to launch the office. He's led CP+B account teams for Windows Phone, Volkswagen, Geek Squad, Best Buy, Pearl Izumi, and Ask.com among others. Before joining CP+B, Jeff worked at several St. Louis agencies including TBWA\Chiat\Day, CORE and Arnold where he managed the iconic Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey brand. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Missouri Journalism School and Saint Louis University's John Cook School of Business. He also serves on the board of the New Denver Ad Club.

John Keehler

John will teach the digital and interactive section.

John is instrumental in the planning and execution of interactive campaigns for The Richards Group. He began his interactive career in 1997 and has worked on all sides of the business from web design to information architecture and programming. John’s passion online is for emerging trends and new technologies. He’s been involved in groundbreaking work in this arena, including early work in blogging for Nokia and Dr. Pepper and creating notable social networking campaigns for Travelocity and Chick-fil-A.

Lisa Christy

Lisa will teach the media section.

Lisa has been recruited by agencies across the country to implement her collaborative approach to media planning. She started her advertising career in Kansas City as a media planner at Bernstein-Rein. While there, at 26 years old, she was invited to teach full time for the School of Advertising & Public Relations at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Three years later, Lisa and her husband Tim moved to Minneapolis where she helped start the media department at creative hot-shop OLSON Advertising and was responsible for the media planning for the Effie-winning brand launch of Phillips Union Whiskey. In 2005, Wieden + Kennedy brought Lisa to Portland, Oregon where she has worked on Old Spice and Starbucks.

Kelty has over 20 years of experience as a marketing executive in the advertising, broadcast network, and product marketing industries. She worked for multinational advertising agencies in New York and Europe, managed program promotion for NBC, and directed brand management for Mars, Inc. Her past clients include P&G, Borden, and Mars.
